High quality porridge and eggs for breakfast. Location right by another local establishment, the lake at Loch Lomond and the Galloway forest and the trails. Situated only 1 km from New Galloway Golf Club...

Cute service from the owner made us feel at home.
Although the owner was friendly, the amenities were quite lacking. The television in the room was outdated and provided poor picture quality, which dampened my enjoyment during downtime. I found the room a bit too basic, and the overall atmosphere could use more character and charm.

Friendly owner once she relaxed her reserve. Very accommodating for some of our party who were allowed to take up their rooms by 11am in order to change for a wedding. This was very much appreciated. The bar has a warm friendly atmosphere and the amiable host supplies pre meal drinks and bonhomie while taking orders and ending our evening in fine style by dispensing from his stock of single malts.
There is no private car parking on site; your confirmation said there was. Only for cycles and motorcycles. Very small ensuite. Door of our room (1) needed slamming to close the latch lock.Serving staff at the evening meal not very professional; main courses delivered before our starters. Cold plates for hot dishes at breakfast but hey, some people prefer it that way! Overall we thought it a little too pricey for what was on offer.

Chur, the room was comfy and the bed was decent, but I wish the shower had hotter water and the bar hours were more flexible. Breakfast was heaps good, though!

Hotel was situated in the centre of New Galloway, a small town about 10 miles from Castle Douglas. The place had a family feel to it and the decor was tasteful. The associated pub meant we could have a drink in the evening or a meal in the resturant. The menu was varied and had specials. Good sized room and nice decor.
The room the first evening and morning were cold because the heating had not for some reason been turned on. The room only had a shower in it. For the price of the room (£89 per night), I would have expected a bath. Neither the bar or resuturant were open during the day. Not sure whether this was because it was low season (early December). As as party of 12 staying at the hotel, we ate in the resturant on Sunday evening. The price of the food was good and tasty, though the main part of the meal could have been served hotter; this seemed to be a consistent finding on that evening. I would recommend the hotel but tell people about bar/meal arrangements.

We ate dinner at the hotel and it was very good. Free wi fi. And the quiz was enjoyable.
We arrived to find that the hotel did not supply soap and Shampoo, when we asked about it we were told that it costs too much to supply shampoo and they would have to increase the prices if they did. Considering that they charged us £84 for the room for one night b&b, I think that was an extremely poor reply. The room was smallish, the ensuite very small and the door to the shower was broken hanging by a bit of plastic. For dinner we sat at an empty table near the bar as other people were sitting in that area eating, and we gave our order but the waitress said that we couldn't eat at that table because the three men sitting at the bar were going to eat there and we must move to the dinning room, the table had no reserve on it, no indication that it was booked. The three men said they were happy to move to another table but she insisted, so to avoid an argument we moved to the dinning room, there was no one else there, it was in darkness we had to find the light switch and switch it on ourselves. We were there on our own for 20 minutes until other diners arrived. The cooked breakfast was not great, we even had tinned tomatoes instead of fresh.
